Mary Gequeta Kinnard Bounds Benson, 80, of Lake Mexia passed away February 12, 2013 in Mexia, Texas. Graveside services will be 11AM, Friday, February 15, 2013 at Medeley Chapel in the Oakland Cemetery in Navasota, Texas. Rev. Marcus Sheffield will officiate. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Mary was born August 17, 1932 in Wichita Falls, Texas to James Ray and Aretha L. Taylor Kinnard. She had been a resident of Mexia since 1998. Her first, and most important, occupation consisted of being a fulltime wife, mother and homemaker. After raising her children, she attended Beauty College. Mary worked for many years as a beautician before retiring. She decided retirement wasn’t for her, so she began working as a substitute teacher. She was very outgoing; a people person. Mary was an excellent cook and loved gardening both flowers and vegetables. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Navasota. Her love for God and her family were evident in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Joe Marion Bounds; and brother, Don Lee Kinnard. Mary is survived by her husband, Glen Bernhard Benson; daughter, Debrah Burgess and husband, Asa; son, Cary Joe Bounds and wife, Reatha; grandchildren, Kathryn Gequeta Burgess Roberts and husband, Chris, Dee Ann Burgess Howell and husband, Chris, Amber Collins, Misty Collins, Leah Bounds, Caleb Bounds; great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Grant Roberts, Kinsey, Parker and Bailey Howell, Caden Bounds, Billy Collins and John Parrish; sisters, Jerry Louise Kinnard Joins of Wharton and Rae Jean Kinnard Hasty of DeLeon.
