Mildred Ward Obituary

Mildred Elizabeth Mayes Ward, wife, mother and friend, went home to be with our Lord on July 8, 2010. She began her life in Coolidge, Texas as the oldest child and only daughter of William Edward Mayes and Josie Townsend Bennett Mayes on March 19, 1916. She graduated from Coolidge High School and married Roy Jack Ward on December 31, 1936. Mildred was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Coolidge, Texas, a member of the Coolidge Garden Club and the Texas Federation of Women's Study Club. She was a wonderful Mother who loved caring for her family, gardening and cooking countless meals for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers William Edward Mayes and Arthur Earl (Sonny) Mayes; an infant son; and daughter, Amanda Elizabeth Ward. She is survived by her sons, William Roy "Bill" Ward and Ivan Jack Ward; her daughter, Amelia Jo Ward Davison; grandchildren, Jack and Ann Ward, Jim and Jennifer Ward, Christie and Chris Schultz, Zane Ward, Ward Davison, Nathan and Theresa Davison and LaraCatherine Davison; seven great-grandchildren, six nieces and nephews and 14 great nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 pm Friday night at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 10, 2010 in the First Methodist Church in Coolidge with the Rev. Carl Rucker and Mr. Allen Johnston officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Zane Ward, Jack Ward, Jim Ward, Ward Davison, Nathan Davison and Chris Schultz. Honorary pallbearers will be Soap Osborne and Doyle Holman.
