Miller Talley

Miller Frank Talley June 26, 1947 – February 20, 2016 Miller Frank Talley passed away peacefully on February 20, 2016, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born June 26,1947 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Gault H. Talley and LaVerne Miller Talley. Being the son of a “Navy Man” he grew up living in many places, including Key West, Florida; Norfolk, Virginia and The British West Indies before moving to Mexia, Texas in 1960. A lifelong Blackcat, he graduated from Mexia High School in 1965. He attended Navarro Junior College, before graduating from Arlington State University (now The University of Texas at Arlington) in 1969 with a Bachelors’ Degree in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation, he accepted a position with Dallas Power & Light. In 1972 he joined General Electric Corporation, which took him to various locations in the Carolinas and finally Memphis, TN. In the early 1980s, Miller began a career as an independent dealer representative for industrial and commercial electrical products. He started his own business in Memphis, successfully representing many electrical product manufacturers. In 1991 he joined Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Houston and subsequently rejoined General Electric in the Dallas area. In 2003 he began working for various independent electrical dealer representatives in Waco, TX; Little Rock, AR; Memphis, TN and finally Tulsa, OK. Upon retirement from electrical product sales in 2008, he worked at Union ISD in Tulsa as a school bus driver until his death. He proudly served his Country and the State of Texas in the Texas National Guard, receiving special training as a Paratrooper. In 1992, he married Dori Ann Davis, and they enjoyed life together until her death in August 2014. In September 2015 he met Linda Clark and at the time of his death, they were engaged to be married. Miller had many interests and hobbies, including coaching youth soccer, watching youth swimming competitions, playing golf, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and the Baylor Bears Girls’ Basketball team, discovering new restaurants to enjoy, watching high school football games and Oklahoma high school marching band competitions and judging high school Lincoln-Douglas Debate meets. Throughout his life, Miller enjoyed meeting people and learning about their lives. He forged life-long friendships at every stage of his life. He never forgot a friend and made every effort to maintain all his friendships throughout his life. The outpouring of love for him in his final days from so many people is a true testament to the Friend he was. In recent years, Miller enjoyed the early morning time over coffee with his fellow bus drivers. Miller accepted Christ at an early age and followed His teachings throughout his life. He was active in many churches over the years. He taught Sunday school and Bible study. He ministered to many people over the years, giving invaluable advice and support through challenging times. Most recently he was a member of the Grace Community Church of Tulsa. He is one of God’s true Servants. Miller was preceded in death by his mother, LaVerne and father, Gault and his loving wife, Dori Ann Talley. He is survived by special fiancée Linda Clark, his daughter Tracy Schneider, his son Philip Talley, his sister Denniese Talley Spears and husband, Richard, his nephew Brandon Spears and nieces Kelly Stewart and Carrie Spears. Miller and his family give special thanks to Pastor Doug Heck and the kind members of his congregation for their support, all of the Union ISD bus drivers and other school staff for their friendship and the special caregivers at Saint Francis Hospital for their care and compassion. A Memorial Service celebrating Miller’s life will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at Grace Community Church of Tulsa. There will also be a Memorial Service in Mexia, TX on March 18, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Blair – Stubbs Funeral Home. Donations in Miller’s memory may be made to Grace Community Church of Tulsa or Clarehouse in Tulsa.
