Pedro Salgado Obituary

Pedro Javier Salgado passed away at Scott & White Hospital on May 9th, 2017 in Temple, Texas at the age of 63. His loving wife of 41 years, Maria Guadalupe Salgado, never left his side. Pedro’s greatest blessing was his family. He is survived by his wife, Maria Guadalupe Salgado; daughter, Maria del Carmen Samaniego and husband, Javier Samaniego and granddaughters, Gabi, Erika and Jessi of Coolidge, daughter, Veronica Salgado and soon-to-be husband, Jason Joyner of Ennis, daughter, Rosa Salgado and fiancé, Cody Snyder of Huntsville, and his baby boy, Javier Salgado of Stephenville. Pedro is also survived by his father, Santiago Salgado Cedeño “Papi Chanta” and nine siblings, Raquel, Abel, Hermelinda, Maria Elena, Maria Guadalupe and Martha, all of Morelia, Michoacán, México, brother Lorenzo of Colorado and brothers, Marcelino and Jorge of California. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Cedeño Salgado; sister, Yolanda Salgado; and in-laws, Alicia Pérez and J. Guadalupe Ramírez. Pedro was born in the small town of Chiquimitío, Michoacán on June 29, 1953 and moved to Morelia as a teen. He immigrated to Texas with his wife and young daughter, in pursuit of his American dream. That dream was realized through the birth of three more children, the establishment of Pedro’s Auto and Outboard Mechanics and his favorite place on this earth, his “rancho”. Anyone who knew Pedro knew that he was a man of his community. There was not anything that he would not do to help a friend, neighbor or stranger. Whether out and about in Mexia or in the tri-county area, everyone knew who Pedro was. His children would often ask, “Who were they, Daddy?” and he would shrug, show off a goofy grin and say, “I don’t know!”. But even when he did not remember who he just greeted or spent 10 minutes talking to about the weather, he always made people feel like he had known them for a lifetime. Visitation will be at Blair Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia, Texas from 6-7 p.m., Thursday, with a Rosary to begin at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM, Friday, May 12, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Pedro Javier Salgado will be cremated, thus a burial will not follow the Mass. The family would like to thank the medical team at Scott and White who worked tirelessly to save their dad, especially, Dr. Thomas Warren. A special thanks to the Luna family for the continued love and support. We know that both of our dads are together again talking about cows, the weather, and how proud they both are of their children. Pedro might even be whistling as he continues to work in heaven.
