Ruby Lewis

Ruby M. Lewis, 97, of Mexia passed away September 23, 2012 in Temple, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:30AM, Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Northcrest Church of Christ with Mr. Hal Thacker and Mr. Robin Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, at the Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Ruby was born January 2, 1915 in Anson, Texas to James Asberry and Effie Idella Roberts Herod. She lived in Limestone County for many years. She married Rufus A. Lewis on October 10, 1931. Ruby’s life was dedicated to caring for her family and serving the Lord. She was a longtime active member of Northcrest Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of almost 64 years, Rufus Lewis; grandson, Christopher Carroll; and three brothers. Ruby is survived by her daughters, Glena Jo Apperson of Waco, Dana Sue Doyle of Belton and Queta Jane Carroll of Conroe; grandchildren, Parker Apperson, Sharla Lumpkin, Robert Doyle, Cheryl Voigtel and Kelly Carroll; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Pallbearers will be Parker Apperson, Robert Doyle, Richard Voigtel, Gary Lumpkin, Joshua Lumpkin, Caleb Lumpkin and Phillip Lumpkin.
