Sallie Ramsey

Mrs. Sallie Eugenia Ramsey, 80, of Mexia passed away March 17, 2009 in Mexia. Funeral services for Mrs. Ramsey will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Mexia. Rev. Brad Brittain will officiate with interment to follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 PM Friday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Mrs. Ramsey was born to George Herbert and Frederika Starley Karner Bell on April 30, 1928 in Mexia, Texas. She lived in Mexia most of her life. Mrs. Ramsey graduated from the University of North Texas. She taught music at the Mexia Elementary School for 34 years before retiring. She will be fondly remembered by the students she taught in school as well as by those she taught in her home. Mrs. Ramsey was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a very devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, George Herbert Bell, Jr. Mrs. Ramsey is survived by her husband of 57 years, Nathan James "Jim" Ramsey, Sr.; children, Nathan James Ramsey, Jr. of Dallas, Jeanne Ramsey Otto of Austin, Rebecca Nan Sperry of Kindred, N. D and Jens Karner Ramsey of Austin; grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Otto, Jordan Bryan Otto, Anna Eleandor Ramsey, Nathan James "Chip" Ramsey, III., Amanda Joy Ramsey, Allison Grace Ramsey, Sarah Elizabeth Ramsey, Benjamin James Ramsey and John Paul Ramsey.
