Funeral services for Sandra Lynn Merchant, 68 of Guthrie, Oklahoma will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 in Potosi Baptist Church. Rev. Charles Dunnam and Chaplain George Fraiser will officiate and interment will follow in the Potosi Cemetery. Lunch for everyone to follow as per special request from Sandy. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, April 2, 2008, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Potosi Baptist Church, 2826 Potosi Road. Mrs. Merchant was born on December 6, 1939 in Houston, Texas to Pierce C. and Ruth (Armstrong) Key and passed away on March 30, 2008 at her residence. She was a teacher for a number of years, restaurant manager for 15 years, and foal manager at Halvorson Ranch. She had several top 10 finishes in AQHA World Championship shows. She was a member of the Potosi United Methodist Church. Mrs. Merchant loved doing things for her family, was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was so devoted to her grandchildren that she got a Texas Ranger to move to Oklahoma. She is survived by her husband, Sid Merchant of Guthrie, Oklahoma, daughters and son- in- laws, Rebecca and Wayne Halvorson of Guthrie and Renee and Tracy Weems of Abilene, grandchildren, Natalie Weems, Luke Weems, Lauren Halvorson, Austin Halvorson and Calyn Halvorson, brother, Pierce Key, Jr. and wife, Emily and their children, Kelli Webb and Kody Key all of College Station. Pallbearers will be Kody Key, Mike Armstrong, Steve Armstrong, Calvin Cox, Gene Kea, and Jack Hammer. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Willingham, Robert Favor, Cliff Teinert, Al Mitchell, Phil Johnson, W. B. Harrison, III, Ronnie Brown and Dan Dankworth.
