Shawna Surratt

Shawna Lynn Patterson Surratt, 26, of Hurst, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at her family’s home in Mexia, Texas following a lengthy illness. She was born to David and Patti Patterson in Midland, Texas on February 20, 1988. She married the love of her life, Jared Surratt, on October 31, 2013. Shawna was raised in Carlsbad, NM where upon high school graduation, moved to Waco, Texas. To know Shawna was to love her…with her courage, she led everyone to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. Her laughter could fill a room; her smile and the “twinkle” in her green eyes, knew no stranger. Her biggest joy in life was being the “Best Aunt” to her precious Jaxen, Blake, Alyssa and Novaleigh. She was thrilled to now be a second mom to her husband’s son, Logan. Shawna is survived by her husband, Jared Surratt of Hurst, TX; parents, David and Patti Patterson of Mexia, TX; sister, Stacey Phillips and husband, John of Mexia; nieces and nephews, Jaxen Phillips of Mexia, Blake, Alyssa and Novaleigh Phillips; step-son, Logan Surratt; and grandparents H. L. and Mary Patterson of Waco, TX. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, A. E. and Lura Smith. There is a special place in our hearts for our wonderful “friends”, Jackie, Tosha and Larry from Scott and White Hospice, who provided love and dignity in the last days of her life. A “Celebration of Life” Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2014 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Holden officiating.
