Stanley Howard Reason, 86 took his first breath into heaven Thursday, December 11th. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. Rick Gray officiating and put to rest at Cobb Cemetery in Thornton, Texas. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home, Mexia, Texas. Mr. Reason was born May 29, 1922 in Luling, Texas to William and Margie Reason. After his years in school he married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn Maurine Cone, who was his loving, loyal and devoted wife and best friend for 66 years. In 1940 Stanley was enlisted into the military as a Merchant Marine, during World War II. After World War II he returned home to Mart, Texas, where he and Evelyn started their family. Stanley was a proud grandfather of 4 grandchildren, who called him "Paw Paw". He always made time to attend many, if not all, of the football and baseball games of both grandsons. A devoted grandfather, he was never happier than when he was cheering at a sporting event, applauding at a dance recital or spending quality time with a house full of family and friends during holidays or weekends. Stanley was a member of the Springfield Masonic Lodge #74 and the Karem Shriner lodge of Waco, Texas. Stanley was an active member and attended Calvary Baptist Church until his illness. Stanley was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, his parents and a niece, Teresa Maurine Cone. He is survived by one son, Jim Cone Reason and wife, Jonell of Mart; a daughter, April Joy Reason and fiance', Tim Parolini of Mexia; Grandson, John Reason and wife, Savannah of Temple; Granddaughter Adrian Elizabeth Ivison of Hewitt; Grandson Matt Ivison and wife, Maggie of Mexia; Granddaughter, Amanda Teer and husband, Chad of Garrison; five great grandchildren, Haley Paige Stone of Fairfield, Matthew Cooper and Mason Cole Ivison of Mexia, and Micha Cade Reason of Temple; one God Daughter, Taylor Nonie Brooks of Dallas; two nieces, three nephews, three great nieces, four great nephews, several cousins and many friends. Pallbearers will be grandsons, John Reason, Matt Ivison and nephews, Steve Conn, John Cone, Matt Cone, great nephew, Eric Crainer and grandson-in-law, Chad Teer. Honorary pallbearers will be Everett Crainer, James Rand Bates, Walter Joe Lenamon and Bud (Jon) Carroll. Daddy, Paw Paw and friend to many will be missed by those who loved him and knew him. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be made to Providence Hospice of Mexia, 107 E. Commerce.
