Tommy Kerley Obituary

Tommy Lee “Tom” Kerley, of Teague, passed away August 1, 2016 at the VA Hospital in Temple, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Michael Vestal officiating. A graveside service with Military Honors and interment will follow in the Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Butch Nichols, Nick Nichols, Ron Day, Lance Tarkington, Chip Vance and Ross Wellen Visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, prior to the service. Tom was born in Temple, Texas on June 23, 1947 to Andrew Lawrence and Ima Lela Covington Kerley. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Tom was a plumber for Temple ISD, retiring after 30 years of service. After retiring, he moved to Teague. Tom had a great sense of humor, loved to tell jokes. He also enjoyed participating in Civil War re-enactments, collecting, restoring and riding old English motorcycles, collecting arrowheads and telling stories. He was preceded by his parents; sister, Bonnie; and brother, Bob. Tom is survived by his wife, Marilyn Kerley of Teague; sister, Mary Hutson of San Diego, CA; and niece, Laura Wellen of Temple.
