Velma Graham

Mrs. Velma Graham, 87, of Mexia passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 in Groesbeck after an extended illness. Mrs. Graham was born July 28, 1922 in Slocum, Texas to Willie J. and Martha Beauchamp Moore. Mrs. Graham was a homemaker and loved her family and took good care of them. She demonstrated her love for the Lord by her actions toward her family and friends. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Mexia, and had also worked and retired from the Mexia State School. Mrs. Graham was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Aubrey W. Archibald and Hugh Graham; and by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Fenley Magness of Huntsville; her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Melinda Archibald of Mexia; grandchildren, Lesa Hancock of Mexia, Donna Story of Huntsville, Chad Archibald of China Spring, Colby Archibald of Mexia and Willie Herring of Mexia; great grandchildren, Taylor and Sydney Groveton of Mexia, Dakota and Chase Archibald of China Spring, J.W. Herring and Clint Brown of Mexia, Ryan and Katie Hancock and Amanda Montelone; and one great-great grandchild . She is also survived by her brothers, Buddy Moore of Mabank and Billy Ray Moore of Athens and by her sister, Margaret Willham of Texas City. Funeral services will be 11 AM, Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010 in the Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home chapel in Mexia with the Reverend Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Archibald, Colby Archibald, Roy McNeel, Greg Reyes, Danny Strother, Mike Strother, Robert Archibald and Joe Allen. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 pm on Monday evening at the funeral home.
