Funeral services for Vernon Ray Gilliam, 73. of The Woodlands were held on October 18, 2005 in Blair Stubbs Chapel, Teague. Rev. Jeff Powers officiated with interment Following in Greenwood Cemetery, Teague. Mr. Gilliam was born November 13, 1931 in Fairfield and passed away on October 14 In Houston. He was a retired conductor for Burlington-Northern Railroad, a member Of the Presbyterian Church, a member of Boggy Masonic Lodge # 739, Karem Shrine Temple in Waco, Scottish Rite 32nd degree. He is survived by his wife, Emma Lou Gilliam of The Woodlands, 2 sons: Steve Gilliam And wife, Connie of Salado, Chuck Gilliam and wife, Sheila of The Woodlands, daughter, Ginger Gilmer of The Woodlands; 7 grandchildren: Michelle Gilliam, Melodie Gilliam, Chuck Gilliam, Jr., Stefanie Gilmer, Anna Gilmer, Storm Gilliam and Jordan Czichos, one great grandchild, Alex Gilliam, Brother, Charles Gilliam of Austin and sister in law, Wanda Johnson of Richmond, Texas. Pallbearers were Chelmer Satterwhite, Terry Sartor, Joe Dwain Hancock, Herbert Cody, Kenneth Beasley, John Allen Christian, Bodie Posey and H. G. Williams: Honorary Pallbearers: Class of '49. He was preceded in death by his parents: Vernon W. Gilliam and Grace Ward Hamilton And granddaughter: Mandy Gilliam.
