Vicki Sharon Smith, 62, entered her heavenly home on September 24, 2014. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Northcrest Church of Christ with Jody Day officiating. Interment will follow in the Cotton Gin Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Vicki was born March 30, 1952 in Mexia, Texas to Mandville Lide, Jr. and Marie Hawkins Lide. She lived in the Mexia/Cotton Gin area her entire life and graduated from Mexia High School. She spent a total of 24 years working for the Mexia Police Department and Precinct 4 Constable. Vicki was challenged with illnesses throughout many years of her life and, with her faith and the support of her loving family, embraced life and met the challenges. Vicki had a big heart; she not only loved and cherished her family but accepted other children into her home as her own. She was a longtime active member of the Shiloh Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her father, Mandville Lide, Jr. Vicki is survived by her mother, Marie Lide of Cotton Gin; husband, Brandon Andre Smith of Mexia; sons, Randy Ratliff and wife, Stephanie of Cotton Gin, Jody Day and wife, Angela of Gladewater and Justin Day and wife, Sheka of Waco; grandchildren, Jarron, Cierra, Nicole, Aiden, Randi “ Fussy”, Jadarius, Trivonte, Bre, Cash, Bailee, Kaleb, Cody, Chase, Kayden, Jordan, Jayron and Jayce; great-grandchild, Jayren; brothers, Bobby Lide and wife, Deana of Cotton Gin and Billy Lide and wife, Tammy of Fairfield; her special girls, Lacy Smith and Petra Albiter; nieces Nicole Lide, Lindsay Schouten and husband Pete and Tanna Lide; nephews Jared Lide and Christopher Lide. Pallbearers will be Bobby Coslin, Rodney Irvin, Donnie Anderson, Bryan Bell, Roy Fikac and Leonard Steward. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Jones, Jim Boyd, Richard Hawthorne, Jerri Lou Baugh, The Mexia Police Department, The Limestone Sheriff’s Department, The Mexia Fire Department and The Airevac crew. The family would like to extend a “special thanks” to nurse, Betsy Palmer and Dr. Eric Eichhorne and family.
