Viola Marie Moss, 93, of Mexia, passed away April 1, 2014 in Mexia. Graveside services will be 4:30 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2014 in the Mexia Cemetery with Rev. Danny Niedecken officiating.. Visitation with the family will be 2:00-3:00 p.m., Friday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Viola was born July 21, 1920 in Tehuacana, Texas to Michael Bennett and Elnora Bronaugh Reynolds. She retired from the Mexia State School after many years of service. She devoted her life to serving God, loving her family and treating everyone the way she wanted to be treated. She also had a great sense of humor. Viola’s favorite past time was sewing and quilting. She quilted with the Methodist Church ladies quilting group for many years. She also loved to travel. Her favorite quote was “You’re going to live until you die”. She was a long time active member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Elnora Reynolds; husband, Bill Moss; son, William Robert “Bob” Moss; brothers, Marvin Reynolds and Willie B. Reynolds; and sisters, Louise Dowdle and Bernie Lee Clark. Viola is survived by her daughter, Claudia New and husband, Noah of DeSoto; daughter-in-law, Alice Moss; granddaughter, Courtney Page Hartnett and husband, Chris; great-grandchildren, Chandler Hartnett, Cameron Hartnett and Jack Hartnett; and a number of nieces and nephews.
