William Leon. Denbina passed away in Kingwood on Wednesday, May 29 at the age of 90 years. He was predeceased in December 2009 by his wife of 63 years, Mildred Nussbaum Denbina. He is survived by daughter Carrie and sons Eric, David, Scott, and Lee, along with ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Bill was born January 24, 1923 in New York City, New York to Isadora and Leah Brun Denbina. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 – 1946, where he met his future wife, Mildred, on assignment to the U.S. Canal Zone in Panama. In 1958, they were leaders in the petition drive to forge together the Hurst-Euless-Bedford (Texas) Independent School District. “Bill” Denbina joined the workforce at the newly-opened Bell Helicopter plant in Hurst in 1951, eventually becoming the Transmission Plant foreman. He held this position until his retirement in 1985. He was an active member of the Temple Beth-El Congregation in Fort Worth from the late 1940s until moving to the Houston area in 2002. He and Mildred then joined Temple Beth Torah in Humble, Texas. A memorial service will be held at the Kingwood Funeral Home on Sunday, June 2 at 2:00 PM, with graveside service at the Nussbaum family section of the Mexia Cemetery in Mexia on Monday, June 3 at 1:00 PM.
