Ja'Lisa LaShonna Rivers Obituary

JaLisa LaShonna Rivers was born November 25, 1990 in Moreno Valley, CA to Julia Rivers, Clyde Brown, and "father in love" John G. Patton.
JaLisa was a sweet reserved young woman who loved everything about art especially drawing, she was a huge fan of WWE, and loved children. She always looked forward to attending her bi-annual family reunions because she knew she would create everlasting memories with her “Kinfolks”.
JaLisa started her educational journey in Moreno Valley, CA at Edgemont Elementary, she then relocated to Daingerfield, TX where she attended West Elementary, South Elementary, Daingerfield Jr High, and Daingerfield High School. She graduated class of 2008 then continued her education at Northeast Texas Community College where she earned her A.A. in Art. She then enrolled into The Art Institute of Dallas, soon after completing her 1st year JaLisa fell ill and had to return home due to her medical condition. JaLisa was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 4 and has battled the disease ever since. JaLisa's days were filled with good and bad nevertheless she always tried to put her best foot forward despite the constant pain she endured. From age 5 to 18 she attended Camp Sweeney which was a camp centered around children with type 1 diabetes, camp was an annual escape for JaLisa and she loved every moment of it. Camp taught her how to take care of herself and introduced her to some of her lifelong friends. The one person in this world JaLisa didn't play about was her mother who she adored so much they were 2 peas in a pod. JaLisa was blessed to have several parental figures in her life who cared deeply for her especially John G. Patton, Sherriff Jack Martin, Bob & Deb Scaff, Terell & Tolita Teddleton, and Glenn Sears. On November 16, 2019 JaLisa went to be with the Lord, she will be missed dearly.

JaLisa is survived by her parents Julia Rivers, Clyde Brown, John G. Patton; grandmother Dorothy Amelong; uncles James Jackson, Ronald Isaiah, Edward Hall, Terell Teddleton; aunts Mary Isaiah, Towdolyn Barkwell, Tonia Jones, Maurine Hall, Quine Hodge, Anna Moore, Jessie Walker, Juanita Rivers, Tolita Teddleton; & a host of cousins, family, & friends.
