Helen Seiler Nixon, Texas Obituary

Helen Seiler

Helen A. Seiler, of Adkins, passed away on April 25, 2017 at the age of 58. Helen was born in Druex, France, on May 18th, 1958, to the late John J. and Marylyn (Gerth) Kozowyk. Helen graduated from St. Philips College in 1985 earning a nursing degree. She worked as a LVN for over 29 years spanning agency work, contract and civil service at Brook Army Medical Center. Throughout her career, she dedicated herself in service and care to her patients. Her most compelling work was in the ICU, working quietly like an angel hovering between life and death. She received numerous awards for her outstanding work at BAMC. Helen had many interests including canning tomatoes, making preserves, caring for her fruit trees, deep sea fishing, bargain hunting at estate sales, dancing to Cajun music and attending Senior events at church. Playing with her grandchildren always made her feel young at heart. Whether it was a special trip to see them or a Sunday afternoon after church, Helen was always up for a game of Uno or Thomas trains. She received great joy helping others as well. As a member of Hermann Sons, she served as Youth Counselor/Director for the Junior Chapter from 1998-2001. Volunteering at the tea and cake booth at Hermann Son’s Happiness was a highlight of Fiesta. Helen was a member of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church for 16 years and later the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. For as much love and support that she received from the church family, she always felt the need to serve and give back. She volunteered to clean the church for 3 years until she was too sick to continue. As a member of the Rosary Society, she prayed with devotion. Helen is survived by her loving husband, Charles Seiler, of over 30 years of marriage; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Eric Herbek, daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Brian Sausley, and son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Jessica Seiler; grandchildren- Savannah, Isabella and Noah Herbek; George and Elizabeth Seiler; Brother, Joe Kozowyk, wife, Rebecca, and 3 nephews; Best Friend, Darlene Zigmond. Helen’s biggest goal in life was making sure all 3 children graduated from college and followed Christ our Lord – “The Lord has let me watch my children grow to see what they become”. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2017, 5:30pm-8:00pm, at Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia; Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm.
