Robert Cooper Pasadena, Texas Obituary

Robert Cooper

Robert Lee Cooper, 87, of Pasadena, Texas, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Brookshire Residence and Rehabilitation Center. He was in the care of Hospice With Grace and the nursing home staff. Robert was born February 2, 1931, to Augustus Paul Cooper and Ella Stone Cooper. He had three older brothers and three older sisters and his family lived in Hillsboro, Texas, but relocated to Port Arthur, Texas when Robert was an infant. He was raised in Port Arthur and became a merchant seaman when he was a young man. He travelled all over the world on ships for over forty years until he retired. Robert was a great storyteller and even though he told the same stories over and over everyone enjoyed hearing them again and again. He loved singing along to his favorite country western songs. He captured everyone’s attention with his songs and storytelling and everyone loved to sit and listen to his stories and songs. His exceptional memory was well developed and he could talk in depth about subjects that interested him. He spent many hours on ships listening to audio tapes of the Bible and he believed the Word of God. He succeeded in life through his hard work and determination and was able to successfully provide for his family despite having only an elementary education. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Augustus and Ella Cooper, his three older brothers and three older sisters. He was the last surviving member of his birth family. Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Aileen Cooper of Pasadena, Texas. Other survivors include his son, Rodney Cooper and wife Sandra, daughter Charlene Winseck and husband Douglas, son Jason Cooper and wife Jodi, stepson Robert Bodden Jr. and wife Irene, stepdaughter Donna Bodden Aldridge, and many grandchildren. Robert’s ashes will be scattered at a future date. We love you Dad. May you rest in peace.
