Bonnie Roberts

Bonnie Rose Owens Phillips Roberts, age 88, while surrounded by her family went to sew garments for the angels on February 9, 2016. Bonnie was born August 15, 1927 in Durant, Oklahoma to Cortland Owens and Okla Garner Owens (Kelley). She married Raymond Phillips May 22, 1948, then Ralph Roberts August 18, 1974. She loved to sew and crochet. Quilts were her favorite thing to make, dozens have been given to friends and family. She could make or repair anything from a bib to a wedding dress. Bonnie is survived by her children, Louise Phillips Bower of San Angelo, TX, Kathy Cole, Joyce Waggonner and husband Ron, John Phillips and wife Janie all of Robert Lee, TX, Gary Hunter of Orosi, CA; her sisters, Billie Williams of Santa Cruz, CA, Donna Cash of Marshall, AR and Nancy Ledbetter of Durant, OK; brothers, N.A. Kelley and James Kelley of Marshall, AR. Sha has eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews. There isn’t enough space to list the names of all family members and foster children that were fortunate enough to be loved by Bonnie but they know who they are. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four sisters, six brothers, as well as son-in-laws, Jerry Bower and Kent Cole. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons. Visitation will be held all day Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Shaffer Funeral Home in Robert Lee. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 12, 2016 at Robert Lee Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Robert Lee Care Center and Gentiva Hospice for the love and care shown to our mother.
