Louise Counts

Louise G. Ivy Counts went home to her Lord on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 7 days. She was born on November 17, 1926 in Wills Point, Texas to Rev. James N. and Juno M Mullins Ivy. She married James N. Counts on November 5, 1949. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four siblings and one granddaughter. She is survived by her six children, James and wife Tammy, Larry and wife Susan, Wayne and wife Sandra, David and wife Frances, Ivy and husband David Steele and Kevin and wife Belinda; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and one nephew. Louise did child social work in her younger days and taught at an ACE Christian school, as well as tutoring children with language barriers. She lived for almost fifty-six years on the family ranch outside Water Valley, Texas. She was active in church, school and community activities for many of those years. Louise moved to Rio Concho Manor in 2006, after the passing of her husband. She made a great many new friends and reconnected with friends from over the years. Louise was a proficient gardener, seamstress and cook, sharing her time and talents with anyone in need. That was her ministry and her legacy, the ability to see a need and meet it without hesitation. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Shaffer Funeral Home’s Sherwood Way Chapel with a private graveside service in Coke County. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way. A special thanks to Hospice of San Angelo and the staff of Cedar Manor Nursing Home.
