Virginia Whybrew Obituary

Virginia Whybrew, 90, passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. Visitation will be held all day Friday, October 14, 2016 at the funeral home with family present 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Robert Lee Baptist Church with interment to follow in Robert Lee Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Virginia was born on September 15, 1926 in Bremen, Indiana to Ernest and Ruth (Cline) Whittaker. She was the oldest of six girls. She married William Whybrew on September 19, 1943. He preceded her in death in 1972. She and her husband pastored churches in Hillsboro, Texas and Van Horn, Texas. She continued the ministry at Van Horn, Texas, after her husband's death for eight years. She worked with many children there. She also volunteered at the hospital. She moved to Robert Lee in 1980 when she became the office manager for the Cable Company. She worked for Shaffer Funeral Home until 2010. She is survived by three daughters, Joan (Dennis) Selfridge of Mitchell, S.D., Judy(Greg) Chitwood of San Angelo, and Jean(Bob) Lovelady of Princeton, Texas; her seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren: Sonja(Todd) Burpo and Cassie, Colton, and Colby of Imperial, Nebraska; Belinda Selfridge of Princeton, Texas; Steven (Manel) Selfridge and Bennett, Millie, Hudson, and Nia of Rapid City, S.D.; Trenton Steinke of Austin, Larissa(Justin) Ely and Payton and Addison of Buda, Texas; Will James (Erica) Lovelady and Camden, Brylee, and Paxton of Princeton, Texas; Heidi(Chris) Estep and Hank of Princeton, Texas; Chad (D'Arcie) Chitwood and Katelynn and Charlotte of San Angelo; and Lindsay (Keith) Rehklau and Evelyn and Ruby of Germantown, Wisconsin; sister, Marjorie (John) Ward of Sun City West, Arizona; brother-in-law, Don Staley of Huntington, Indiana; and sister-in-law, Addie Devine of Cocoa, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Barbara, Carol, Betty, and Doris. The family would like to express our thanks and gratitude to Dr. D'Arcie Chitwood, Intrepid Hospice and Sagecrest Care Center for their compassion and care.
