Almeter Powers

Almeter Ervin was born on June 29, 1932 to Turner Erving and Willie Irene “Mama Willie” Bennett in Wortham, Texas. She attended for over 81 years and spent many of those years as an Usher. She attended West Belton High School in Belton, Texas in 1949. <br>On September 1, 1951, Almeter married Louis Charles Brown, Sr. and to this union of almost 18 years, three children were born: Louis, Willie Mae, and Thomas Earl. They remained married until LC departed this life on January 2, 1969 in Odessa, Texas. In March of 1969, Almeter relocated herself and her children back to Moody, Texas. While living in Moody, she worked in Waco, Texas and later relocated to Belton, where she worked at Pittman’s Cleaners until she retired. On November 2, 1979, Almeter and Thomas Powers were joined together in holy matrimony and remained best friends for 23 years until his death.<br>Almeter Ervin Brown Powers aka “mama”, “mawme” or “granny” departed this life on June 16, 2017 and is preceded in death by her 1st husband: Louis Charles “LC” Brown, Sr., 2nd husband: Thomas “Slick” Powers, parents: Turner Erving and Willie Irene Bennett, son: Robert Lewis, brothers: Odell Ervin, Sr., Charlie Ervin, Aaron Edison, Sr., sisters: Christine Lillie Pearl Ervin-Moore and Rosie Lee Ervin-Cox, son-in-law: David L. Seibert, grandson: David L. Seibert, Jr., and great-grandson: Jerece “Puffy” Player. <br>She leaves to cherish her memory, sons: Louis Charles Brown Jr. of Belton and Thomas Brown Sr. of Temple; daughter: Willie Mae Seibert of Belton, sister: Marie Nash-Walker of Muncie, Indiana; brother, Willie George Walker of Fort Worth; 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.<br><br><br><br>
