Funeral services for Mildred Ann "Millie" (Formby) Thrift, 70, of Nacogdoches, TX, will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 21, 2011, at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Garrel Faulkner and Bro. Freddie Bird officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson. Ms. Thrift passed away April 18, 2011, in Nacogdoches.
Born July 29, 1940, in Houston, TX, Mildred Ann Formby Thrift was the daughter of the late Jack Formby and Cecilia Mildred Thevenot Gremillion. After the death of her father when she was 3 years of age, Mildred was reared by her beloved daddy Ford Gremillion. She received a nursing degree and was a registered nurse for many years in Baton Rogue, LA, Houston, and Center, TX. Millie also received a teaching certificate from the University of Texas in Tyler.
Survivors include son Mike Thrift and wife Terry of Timpson; daughter Claudia Ann Thrift of Humble, TX; brother Charles Gremillion of New Roads, LA; sisters Cherry Booth and husband Dr. William Booth of Big Canoe, GA and Patty Heatherington and husband Max of Corpus Christi, TX; grandchildren Ashley Dawn Thrift and fiance Oscar of Waco, Kirsti and Kaden Arvello of Timpson and Kooper Owens of Timpson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Mildred Thrift was preceded in death by Ralph Thrift.
Visitation will be held 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 21, at Taylor Funeral Home.
