Donna R. Smith, 73, passed away Monday April 24, 2017 at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Waco. Services will be held 1P.M. Fri. April 28 at New Road Church of Christ, 3100 S. New Road, Waco, with Nathan Burrow of Hillcrest Church of Christ in Abilene officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro, TX. The family will receive visitors 6-8pm Thurs. April 27 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco, 76706. Donna was born October 14, 1943 in Hillsboro, Texas to parents Hubert and Grace Hoyle. She married James “Jim” Smith on Jan. 17, 1964 and they had three children; Damon, Kyle, and Kirk all of whom they are very proud. Among other activities, Donna taught pre-school for 20 plus years at Waco Christian School. She retired as a teacher and librarian from Providence Elementary School. Donna accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord, being baptized into the Church of Christ at the age of 16, at the Bynum Church of Christ. She and her husband Jim were members of the New Road Church of Christ family at the time of her death. Donna remained faithful all of her life, during both good and bad times. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Grace; brother, Wendel; and sister, Wanda. Donna is survived by her husband Jim; three sons, Damon and wife Tammy, Kyle and wife Amy, and Kirk and wife Melody; sister, Nita; brother, Larry and wife Emelee; sister-in-law, Jacque; 2 grandsons, 3 granddaughters; 1 great-granddaughter as well as many nieces and nephews.
