JoAnn Laura Harrison Minnix passed away peacefully from cancer at age 85 on February 28, 2021 at the home of her daughter, Dorene, in Provo, UT. JoAnn was born on May 28, 1935 in East Los Angeles, CA, to Merlin Briggs and Lola Leila Harrison. She had 3 older siblings, Jack, Ruth, and Bud. She married Kenneth Sylvan Minnix in the St. George Utah temple on May 21, 1955. They had four children, Kenny, LeAnne, Dorene and Melanie. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several callings including Primary, Sunday School, Young Women, and Relief Society. She lived the majority of her life in Southern California. Throughout the years, she worked as a bookkeeper for her brother, Jack's electrical business, at the retail store S.H.Kress & Co., and as a typesetter at Highlander Publication. She loved the beach, going to lunch with her childhood friends, and special "grandma time" with each of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. JoAnn was an amazing daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. JoAnn is survived by Kenny (Lorna) Minnix, Dorene (Scott) Shields, and Melanie Eyres, 19 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, and daughter, LeAnne Rudd. Services will be held at Nelson Family Mortuary 4780 N. University Ave, Provo, UT, at 10:00 am on Friday, March 5, 2021. As per JoAnn's request, no viewing will be held.
