Chad Slayton Fairfax, Vermont Obituary

Chad Slayton

Belvidere – Chad E. Slayton, 38, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the UVM Medical Center surrounded by his loving family and friends. Chad was born on August 14, 1979 to Dwight and Shirley Slayton. Chad was happiest when he was four-wheeling, hunting, fishing, or playing horseshoes with his friends and family. Chad was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox, NASCAR (Earnhardt Jr.), and Budweiser. He was a talented baseball player in his youth, with one of his biggest fans being Larry Brown, Sr. who spoke of consulting with the Farm League for the Montreal Expos because he believed in Chad’s talent that much. Chad loved music and often entertained his family with his singing. His most memorable tune being, “Just a Swinging”. Chad enjoyed his occupation of driving 18-wheelers and often took family along for the ride. Chad had an infectious smile and sense of humor, and always offered a helping hand. Anyone who knew Chad, knew his absolute pride and joy were his children, and he would talk of them endlessly. He loved his family with every fiber of his being. Chad is survived by his children, Alexis and David Slayton of St. Albans, whom he treasured and cherished to no end; his father Dwight (Chuck) Slayton, sister Heather Slayton, brothers Christopher (Bucky) Slayton and Conrad Slayton all of Belvidere; grandmother Maryline French of Johnson; nieces and nephews Dylan Germaine, Kody Deuso, Alyssa and Wyatt Slayton, Tristin and Blake Slayton; aunts and uncles Charles Sr. (Pappy) & Sandra Slayton and Mike & Pat French; and close friends Dan Bradley and Jamie Billado. Chad was predeceased by his mother, Shirley Slayton, earlier in the year. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, October 21st, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Belvidere Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Chad can be made to the Belvidere Cemetery Association 3996 VT Rte. 109 Belvidere, VT 05442.
