ALAN B. SHUTE<br/> STOWE -- Alan Barrett Shute, 77, died peacefully Saturday October 31, 2015, at his home in Stowe after a two year battle with cancer. <br/> He was born August 16, 1938, in St. Johnsbury, the son of H. V. "Bill" and Ellen Mercedes Barrett Shute. He attended UVM, where he played offensive and defensive football. A philosopher to the core Al loved to challenge the thoughts and beliefs of all that were willing to be engaged. <br/> Al was founder and co-partner with Peter von Conta of Hearthstone Stoves in Morrisville Vermont. He continued on to found IMR and Caldera corporations, He was an entrepreneurial businessman that was excited by new ideas and ventures. <br/> Al is survived by his beloved wife and partner of 45 years, Suzanne, his daughter, Christa Shute, and her husband Jim Peterson, his daughter, Janessa Deal, and her husband Steve, and grandchildren John and Katie Deal. His sister Lainey Bishop and brother, Denny Shute as well as niece, Melissa Pruyn, and nephews Kevin and Steve Rex. <br/> A celebration of life will take place at 2 pm on Saturday, November 7th, 2015 at the Waterbury-Stowe Fish and Game Club.
