Charles Joseph Duffy

Charles J. Duffy Waterville Charles Joseph Duffy, 87, died peacefully on Tuesday February 17, 2015 at Burlington Health and Rehab Center in Burlington, with his two grandsons by his side. Charles was born and raised in Waterville, son of the late Charles W Duffy and Beatrice (Quinty) Duffy, on December 20, 1927. Charles served in the US Army during WWII, and was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Charles and Ethelyn ran a dairy farm in Waterville for many years, and he also had his own carpentry business, working to the age of 82. He served the Town of Waterville as a Selectman, and also as a Lister. He leaves his wife of 67 years, Ethelyn (Graves) Duffy of Waterville, daughter Reta Finn of Sante Fe, NM, son Charles “Butch” Duffy and wife Sandy of Waterville, 5 beloved grandchildren: Heather R. Ploof, Jennifer Lodgson, Charles A. Duffy Jr., Dennis J. Duffy and Andrea M. Bourdeau, 10 great grandchildren; Ethan, Jacob, Alec, Seth, Owen, Zoe, Alexandra, Colin, Finny and Mia, 6 siblings; Grace Langlois, Irene Morin, Ralph Duffy, Roger Duffy, Arnold Duffy and Deborah Hodgson, many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Jean Burnor and Sandra Mesa. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Staff at Burlington Health and Rehab Center for the wonderful care given to Charles while he was there. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday February 22, 2015 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at A W Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel, 1176 Main Street, Fairfax, VT 05454. There will be no other services held at this time. Inurnment will be later in the Spring at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in memory of Charles may be given to the Lamoille Area Cancer Network, P.O. Box 38, Lake Elmore, VT 05657.
