David Robert Babcock, 67, of Colchester, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the McClure Miller VNA Respite House in Colchester. He was born in Johnson, Vermont on January 14, 1950 son of David Babcock and Jean (Salter)Babcock Zeno. Dave (Bob) graduated from Essex Junction High School in the class of 1968 and joined the United States Army. Dave was the faithful loving husband to Gail Bushey until her death just over a year ago. He served the country in many different areas around the world including times in Vietnam, Germany, South Korea and many places in the United States, retiring after 20 years of service. Dave and Gail were married for 46 ½ years and they raised their three children around the world and United States, wherever the Army sent them. They moved back to Burlington when Dave retired from the army. Dave worked for PC (Pizzagalli) Construction for many years until he took on the role of caregiver for Gail. He started his own company, Atlantic Coast Construction during this time.Dave was the consummate caregiver from a very young age and a collector of stuff. Dave is survived by his children, Jennie (Stephen) Richer of Essex Jct., Melissa (Timothy) Mumley of Bristol, David Robert (Cynthia) Babcock, II of Colchester, 9 grandchildren, Christine Babcock, Jim Jean, Sarah, Shelby, Stephen and Samantha Richer, Stephanie (Thomas) Wilson, Cassandra and Rhianna Boisvert, and 5 great grandchildren, Makayla Boisvert, Ty, Tayte, Remi, and Kylo Wilson; step-mother Elizabeth Babcock of St. Petersburg, FL, sisters Marilyn (Steve) Hensel of Fairfax, Patricia (Glen Brown) Bromberek of Michigan, a special brother-in-law and caregiver Donald Bushey of Colchester; brothers-in-law, Paul (Claire) Bushey of St. Albans, Gary (Nancy) Bushey of Colchester, Ricky Lewis of Winooski, Ricky (Karen) Bushey of Burlington, sisters-in-law Catherine Bushey and Sherri Bushey, several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. David was predeceased by his wife Gail, parents David Babcock and Jean Babcock Zeno,step-father Frank Zeno, his brother James Babcock, brother-in-law Karl Bushey, and sisters-in-law Donna Bushey and Sandra Lewis. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the First Congregation Church of Essex Junction with Pastor Patricia Bromberek officiating. Internment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Plattsburgh Ave., Burlington.
