Delores Pavlik

Delores J. (Layman) Pavlik Williston Delores J. (Layman) Pavlik, 81, passed away on Saturday July 25, 2015 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington with loved ones at her side. She was born on July 11, 1934 in Carthage, MO daughter of the late Howard and Mary Layman. She was proud to have served her country in the U.S. Navy. Delores graduated with a business degree from Trinity College and enjoyed her 20 year career as a manufacturing manger at IBM. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years, and over her whole life never hesitated to provide a helping hand. She was an avid reader, had a great love of literature, music and culinary pursuits. This love was shared with her family, friends and in particular her grandchildren. Delores, also known as Mimi, had a special fondness for each grandchild. Jessica for her love of music, Taylor for his love of books, Jordan for their lunches and occasional donnybrooks, David for their long talks, and Joanna for her inquisitiveness. Over the years she grew very close to her extended family and cherished the regular holiday festivities and back yard get togethers. Delores and the Pavlik Family extend their gratitude and appreciation for the care and attention she received from Dr. Carey, Dr. Unger, Dr. Ulager and their staff, and to all of the dedicated nurses, doctors, and staff of UVM Medical Center who provided care for Delores over the past few years. A brother Larry Layman and sister Mary Sue Layman predeceased Delores. She is survived by her two sons Scott Pavlik and wife Tricia of North Andover, MA, Frank Pavlik and wife Cindy of Williston, two brothers Richard Layman and wife Debra of WA, Gary Layman and wife Judy of IL, five grandchildren, Jessica Pavlik, Joanna Pavlik, David Pavlik, Taylor Pavlik, Jordan Pavlik, her former husband Frank R. Pavlik of Shelburne and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Friday July 31, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at A W Rich Funeral Home – Essex Chapel, 57 Main Street, Essex Jct., VT 05452. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday August 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Richmond with Reverend Lance Harlow officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Delores to the American Red Cross, Northern Vermont Chapter, P.O. Box 508, 29 Mansfield Avenue, Burlington, VT 05401 or to Meals on Wheels, Williston Chapter, P.O. Box 8442, Essex, VT 05451.
