Donald Henry Erickson, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday December 12, 2013 at his daughter’s home in Vermont with his loving wife by his side. Don was born August 15, 1929 in Elmira Heights, NY the son of the late Eric H. and Mildred Levine Erickson. Don is pre-deceased by his two beloved sons Mark K. Erickson and Bruce T. Erickson. Don graduated from Thomas A. Edison High School in 1946 and the Jean Summers Business School in 1948. He married his wife, Dona M. Ackerman on July 10, 1949 at Oakwood United Methodist Church in Elmira Heights, NY. Don retired from Servomation Corporation (Joy Automatics) in Elmira, NY in 1992. He was active in the Elmira Heights Kiwanis Club, Boy Scout Troop #13 of Oakwood UMC and District Commissioner of the Big High Horse District of Sullivan Trail Council BSA, former Elmira Heights Village Trustee, and treasurer of the Elmira Heights Alumni Association. Don was a life time member of Oakwood UMC. Don is survived by his wife of 64 years Dona M. Ackerman Erickson, daughters & sons-in-law: Karen & Dale Chapman of Westford, VT and Sue & Troy Traynham of Spring Hill, FL; Daughters-in-law: Donna Seneca Erickson of Nichols, NY and Carol Said Erickson of Elmira, NY; grandchildren: Julie &Thomas Feenaughty of Nichols, NY, Anne & Tim Harms of Clinton Township, MI, Kyle & Karen Erickson of Elmira Heights, NY, Heather & Jeff Vaughn of Crestview, FL, Craig & Leah Cathers of Plattsburgh, NY, Matthew & Jennifer Cathers of Yonkers, NY, Scott & Alicia Erickson of Odenton, MD, Theresa Erickson & Miles Winkfield of Buffalo, NY, Leann & Dave Merritt of Elmira, NY, Jerris Cathers & Matthew Falk of Westford, VT, and Austin Traynham & Alyssa Traynham of Spring Hill, FL; great grandchildren: Colton & Reagan Erickson, Landon & Nicole Harms, Henry Cathers and Courtney Vaughn; brother & sister-in-law: Kenneth & Beverly Erickson of Elmira Heights, NY; sister & brother-in-law: Linda & James Priester of East Smithfield, PA; sister: Sandra Erickson of Scottsville, NY; aunt: Edith Martin of St. Albans, VT; along with several nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Friday December 20, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Oakwood United Methodist Church co-officiated by Pastor Mark Erway and Pastor Fred Dyer. Interment will follow in the family lot in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira.
