Gary Wood

Gary R. “Woody” Wood Sr. St. Albans Gary R. "Woody" Wood Sr., 75, passed away at his home in St. Albans on Monday April 30, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lincoln, VT on July 29, 1936 son of the late Emerson and Ina (Russell) Wood. On February 1, 1958 he married his high school sweetheart Mary Jane Costello. Woody enjoyed spending winters in Florida, dancing, playing horseshoes, spending time with his family and friends and being outdoors. He worked for Peasco Grain for many years and later had his own trucking company. He was an outgoing man who loved people and life. Woody will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Mary of St. Albans; six children: Cheryl Robtoy and husband Allen of St Albans; Gary Wood Jr. and his wife Denise of St Albans; Larry Wood and his wife Cindy of WV; Tina Sorrell of Georgia; Ricky Wood and wife Tina of Swanton; Steven Wood of St Albans; his siblings: Nancy Barber and husband Joe of Burlington; Olive Douglas of Vergennes; Doris Prescott of MA; Dorothy Nolan of FL; Wesley Wood and his wife Dot of PA; Diane Whitcomb of MA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews & friends. Gary was also predeceased by his brother Bruce Wood. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Northwestern Medical Center and Franklin County Home Health for the loving care and attention. A Celebration of Gary's life will be held Saturday May 5, 2012 from 12-5 at the Knights of Columbus in St. Albans.
