George J. Caruso Barre George James Caruso, 63 passed away on Thursday July 29, 2010 at the Vermont Respite House in Williston following a courageous 4 year battle with a brain tumor. He was born in Barre, VT on January 2, 1947 son of the late Joseph and Janice (Gorman) Caruso. George graduated from Spaulding High School in 1965. He then attended Fryeburg Academy in Maine for 1 year and Bryant and Stratton College in Boston for 2 years. He worked at North American Van Lines, Vermont Plastics and Ben and Jerry’s where he made many friends. For many years he belonged to the Barre Elks where he had served as Exalted Ruler from 1983-1984. George was an avid reader and had an amazing memory of facts always loving to debate politics. He is survived by his sister Jo-Anne Wisniowski and husband Bernie of Monkton; His nephew Mark Wisniowski and wife Jenn and their son Cole of Huntington; His niece Beth Abbattemarco and husband Cony of West Hartford, CT. The family would like to thank everyone at the Vermont Respite House for the loving and respectful care and support that he and his family received there. A gathering of family and friends celebrating George’s life will be held on Sunday August 29 from 2:00-5:00 PM at the Barre Elks.
