Helaine Perkins

Helaine P. (Hubbard) Perkins Johnson Helaine Priscilla (Hubbard) Perkins, 87, passed away on March 13, 2016 at Copley Hospital in Morrisville. She was born in Cambridge on November 7, 1928 daughter of the late Ruth (Thayer) and Robert M. Hubbard. Helaine attended Cambridge schools, graduated Cambridge High School, Class of 1946 and graduated from Johnson Teacher’s College in 1949. She married Richard G. Perkins in 1950. Helaine had taught elementary and middle schools in Lamoille and Franklin Counties for over 20 years. She enjoyed cooking spending time with family and friends, art, sewing and fishing. Helaine was a member of United Church of Johnson and was very active within the church: she taught Sunday school, attended bible study, worked many church dinners, organized church rummage sales and was an active member of the churches Women’s society. Helaine was also a past Matron of Johnson Chapter No. 65 O.E.S, member of Franklin/Lamoille Retired Teacher and Lamoille County Retired Teachers Association. Helaine is survived by her husband Richard Perkins of Johnson, two sons David Perkins of Johnson, Brian Perkins and wife Pam of North Carolina, three grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher and wife Claudia, Andrew and great grandchild Giles, her sister-in-law Patricia Hubbard, several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Janice and Carl Rushford and her brother Weyland H. Hubbard. Per Helaine’s wishes there will be no public visiting hours held. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at United Church of Johnson. Burial will be in the family lot in Lamoille View Cemetery, Johnson in spring at the convenience of the family.
