Isabelle R. “Sis” (Callahan) Navilia Albany, NY/ Essex, VT Isabelle R. “Sis” (Callahan) Navilia, 87 passed away in Burlington, VT on Wednesday, August 4, 2010. She was born in Saratoga Springs, NY on December 16, 1922 daughter of the late Richard & Frances (Hauerwas) Callahan. Sis and her beloved husband Jerry, who predeceased her in 2004 owned and operated the former Jerry's Bike Shop in Colonie, NY for many years. Sis enjoyed reading, golfing, travel, and had been a long time member of the Albany Curling Club. She had a special fondness for her hometown of Saratoga Springs and enjoyed returning for visits. Sis was always fashionable and up on the latest current events. Her greatest passion was her family. She was a special "MiMi" to her grandchildren Danielle and Peter and she loved watching them perform in plays, recitals and play baseball. She was a member of the former Our Lady of Mercy Church in Colonie, NY. Sis will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her dearly. She is survived by: Her daughter Laurie Navilia-Miller and husband Brian Miller of Essex, VT; their children Danielle and Peter. Her son Thomas B. Gries and wife Barbara of Huletts Landing, NY; and their children Thomas Gries, Jr. and wife Michelle of North Providence, RI: their children Jakob and Alex; and Scott Gries and his wife Alice of Maplewood, NJ; their children Rowan and Liam. Many nieces and nephews and a special friend of Jerry and Sis, Peter Schwarz of Latham, NY. She was also predeceased by five brothers and a sister. Visiting hours will be held at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Essex Chapel on Saturday August 7, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with prayer services being offered at 11:30 a.m. by Pastor Jason Dumaine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday August 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Our Light in Loudonville, NY. Interment will follow in the family lot in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie, NY.
