Janice Rushford
Janice P. (Hubbard) Rushford Eden Janice Pauline (Hubbard) Rushford, 88, passed away at her daughter’s home in Barre on Friday October 31, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 2, 1926 daughter of the late Robert and Ruth (Thayer) Hubbard. Janice was a longtime resident of the Eden and Johnson area. Janice graduated high school in 1944 attended UVM and Boston School of Occupation Therapy. On May 3, 1946 she married Carl Cedric Rushford in Windsor. She was first employed at Johnson Pharmacy, then Johnson State College for Saga Foods. Later she was a bookkeeper at Copley Hospital in Morrisville for 5 years, then at Parker & Stearns for 17 years, retiring in 1989. Janice was a member of the Eden Congregational Church in Eden Mills, serving as a deaconess, Johnson Chapter 65 OES, which she joined in 1944, serving as Worthy Matron from 1956 to 1958 and again in 1997, Grand Chapter of Vermont, serving as grand representative to Oregon, Copley Hospital Auxiliary and Cambridge High School Alumni Association. She is survived by her two children Linda Ainsworth of Barre; Dennis Carl Rushford and wife Kathleen of Shreveport, LA; her sister Helaine Perkins and her husband Richard of Johnson; a sister-in-law Patricia Hubbard of Johnson; many grandchildren, great grandchildren including a granddaughter Nikki Bristol and her husband Rob of St. Johnsbury and grandsons Sean Ainsworth of Lansing, KS; and Robert Rushford and wife Dena of DeRidder, LA; a niece and several nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by her husband Carl Rushford on April 8, 2006, her son Gary Carl Rushford, Sr. on June 6, 2014 and her brother Weyland Hubbard on May 27, 2001. Per Janice’s wishes there will be no visiting hours held. A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 15, 2104 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Church of Johnson with Reverend Michael Ford officiating. Inurnment will follow in the family lot in Jeffersonville Village Cemetery.
