Jeffrey Allen Obituary

Jeffrey W. Allen, Sr. Essex, formerly of South Burlington Jeffrey Wayne Allen, Sr. 59, passed away on January 1, 2015 at University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. He was born in New York City on October 30, 1955, son of Ronald Allen MD and the late Maxine (Messner) Allen. Jeff and his wife Julie met during their high school years while “down the shore” in Lavallette, New Jersey. Six beautiful babies would bless them. Those six kids would witness the most complete marriage imaginable. Julie and the kids provided constant encouragement, pride, and support for Jeff. He spent every possible minute having fun with his family. This included fishing, playing golf anywhere from the back yard to Pine Valley, hitting pop flys, lifting Super Baby, and “ALeee-OOP!” Jeff worked long and hard. He helped shape the landscape of the telecom companies he worked for, always gave his all, and inspired others to do the same. He was a gifted leader who genuinely felt great pride when those around him succeeded professionally and personally. He taught his children how to understand life with never-ending logic, love, and crystal clear explanations of what truly matters in this world. The love he showed throughout his life was undeniable, and impossible to not reciprocate. His kind treatment of others has been passed to his kids. While all of us who loved Jeff are feeling unbearable emptiness, it is the influence of “Dad” which will guide us through. WWDA, or “What Would Dad Advise,” will be the first question we ask for the rest of our lives. Rest, Dad. You so deserve it. Jeff is survived by: his wife Julia (Bein) Allen of Essex; his children: Jeffrey Allen Jr. and wife Jessie of Nebraska; Christopher Allen and Lauren Castellano; Timothy Allen and wife Robyn of Connecticut; Brian Allen of California; Caroline Allen and Robert Quinn of Hawaii; Daniel Allen of California; his father Ronald Allen, M.D. and wife Jacquie of New Jersey; his brothers Bradley Allen, MD and wife Jaclyn of California; Kenneth Allen and wife Jody of Colorado; his sisters Nancy Gin and husband Broderick of Michigan; Karen Allen of Massachusetts; three grandchildren: Beckett Allen, Tuesday Allen, and Nolan Allen; Uncles Fred Messner and wife Vye of New Jersey; William Messner of New Jersey; Brother-in-law Thomas Bein and wife Myrna of Maryland; Sisters-in-law Jan Alfano and husband Dominic of Florida; Dianne O’Rourke and husband Michael of Florida. He has many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his faithful little companion “COHzy.” Jeff was also predeceased by his brother-in-law Woodwerth “Chip” Bein III. The family would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to the highly skilled, compassionate, and determined doctors and nurses at University of Vermont Medical Center, including at “Shep 4” and then the MICU, where no one stopped trying to keep Jeff with us until it was absolutely obvious God had a different plan. We all will be eternally grateful to City of Hope in California where Jeff received his bone marrow transplant from his brother Kenny. Dr. Stephen Forman and his team made it possible for Jeff to experience many beautiful family moments and accomplishments, including the birth of his grandson Nolan, with whom he was able to form an immediate bond. Last, but not least, his “fur child” friend COHzy kept him walking his doctor-ordered 2+ miles per day. She loved every step. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday January 6, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at A W Rich Funeral Home – Essex Chapel, 57 Main Street, Essex Jct., VT 05452.
