John N. “Butch” Chevalier Dorchester, MA John N. “Butch” Chevalier, 75, passed away with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday July 17, 2013 in Swanton, VT. John was born in Swanton, VT on March 5, 1938. He lived in Swanton until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. John proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 15 years including the Vietnam conflict as a Corpsman attached to a Marine Unit. John was a resident of Massachusetts for many years. He was stationed at the Boston Naval Shipyard and then later he drove a taxi in the city of Boston. John was proud to have earned the rank of Sergeant while a security guard with Newbury College in the town of Brookline. John loved his Boston Red Sox and his two cats, Blossom and Angel. John is survived by his brother Marcel “Sammy” Chevalier of Ingram, TX, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves a close friend, Officer Steven Yung and his wife and children from Brookline, MA and his landlady Mrs. Delphine Waker and her family in Dorchester, MA. John was predeceased by his mother, Antonia R. (Moreau) Chevalier and his father, Arthur O. Chevalier, his brothers, Alain and Lawrence “Larry” and his sister Marie (Chevalier) Lumbra. No visiting hours will be held. A graveside service will be held with full Military Honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Swanton officiated by Father Emmanuel on Friday July 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the VFW Post 778 in Swanton between the hours of noon and six. Memorial contributions in John’s memory may be made to Franklin County Home Health and Hospice, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478, or to your local humane society.
