Joseph Albarelli

Joseph S. “Peanut” Albarelli South Burlington Joseph S. “Peanut” Albarelli, 82 passed away on Saturday July 21, 2012 at his home in South Burlington. He was born in Burlington, Vermont to the late Giuseppe and Maria (Perrotta) Albarelli of Potenza, Italy on February 20, 1930. He was married to Joyce Maynard on February 9, 1952. He and Joyce raised their family at 65 Lakeview Terrace, the very house he was born in. Joe served in the U S Army during the Korean War and was a 30 year veteran of the City of Burlington Fire Department. He was the tiller man on the old style “Hook ‘n Ladder”, served a number of years on the Rescue Squad, and finished his career on the “Line Crew” maintaining the cities fire alarm system. Joe was also a licensed electrician. Joe was very athletic. He was an avid racquetball and handball player. He loved to ski and snowboard and was an accomplished swimmer and diver. He was also predeceased by his four sisters—Lena Miller, Mary Durant, Caroline “Kat” Skackett and Margaret L’Ecuyer. He is survived by his wife Joyce, his sons Keith Albarelli and Pam Mahaffie Albarelli of Blue Springs , MO , Lance Albarelli of South Burlington , VT , Michael Albarelli and Barbara Plonski of Milton, Mass and Nicole Albarelli and Rick Le Clair of Winooski , VT. He is also survived by his 10 Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a devoted friend. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday July 28, 2012 from 11:00 till 2:00 p.m. at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Essex Chapel, 57 Main Street, Essex Jct., VT 05452. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Eagles Club on Shelburne Road. A graveside service with inurnment will be held at a future date to be announced in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded. Memorial contributions in Joseph’s memory may be made to The Visiting Nurse Association, Home Care or Hospice Program, 1110 Prim Road Suite # 1, Colchester, VT 05446.
