Joseph John Guttilla Jr., passed away peacefully on Thursday April 3, 2014 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. Joe was born March 20, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY. Joe lived in New York City for many years, he served in the United States Army for 2 years and then married his beloved wife of 59 years, Ann (Thompson) Guttilla. They shared many adventures together through the years and spent much of their lives raising three children, Richard Guttilla, Michael Guttilla and Nicole Zaccara. Joe, Ann and Nicole relocated to Vermont in 1986 and fell in love with it. Not long after Michael and his wife Carmen came to join and then years later Richard Guttilla. Joe enjoyed making people laugh, celebrating holidays with Italian traditions, a Kettle One Martini and Frank Sinatra. Joe also enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren Erika Guttilla, Melissa Guttilla and Dakota Guttilla. Joe was predeceased by his wife Ann on March 18, 2014. They were only apart for 16 days and are now joined again for eternity. Joe is survived by his sons Michael and Richard, daughter Nicole and his three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at The First Congregational Church in Essex Junction.
