Joyce A. (Hoskins) Basiliere Essex Joyce Alice (Hoskins) Basiliere, 84, recently of Greeley, CO, formerly of Long Beach, CA, passed away surrounded by her loving family on February 21, 2013 at Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado after a sudden illness. Joyce was born on July 19, 1928 in Colchester, VT to the late Harry Hoskins and Dorothy Hoskins Fleming. She graduated from Burlington High School and earned an Associate’s degree from Becker Junior College. After working for the University of Vermont, she was hired by IBM in Essex Junction, VT in 1969 where she worked for 12 years before transferring to IBM in Boulder, CO. She worked as an educational specialist until her retirement in 1990. Joyce will always be remembered for her kindness and compassion. She was a member of The Daughters of Rebekah and the Eastern Stars, both service organizations, and she volunteered with the Special Olympics. She was a good natured spirit who loved a little friendly competition, whether it was playing cribbage or bingo. She was a lover of dogs, especially Boston Terriers. Joyce is survived by her five children, Rick Basiliere and his wife, Deborah, of Berthoud, CO, Michele “Mickey” Basiliere of Evans, CO, Barry Basiliere and his wife, Sally, of Long Beach, CA, Babette Basiliere and her longtime companion, Jim Booska, of Greeley, CO, and W. Jay Basiliere and his wife, Shaun, of Eaton, CO; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Trumbo, Elizabeth Basiliere, Jessica Behunin, Carrie Jaeger, Bryan Applegate, Katie Baker and Michael Basiliere and their spouses; and nine great-grandchildren Alexandra, Mariah, Zander, Julian, Logan, Wesley, Wyatt, Charlotte and Evelyn. She is also survived by her brother Jack Hoskins and his wife, Mae, of Melbourne, FL and her ex-husband, Richard “Dick” Basiliere, of Williston, VT. She was also predeceased by beloved daughters Suzanne and Theresa. Per Joyce's wishes, no formal funeral services will be held.
