Katheline M. “Kay” (McRae) Petrie Essex Junction Katheline Margaret “Kay” (McRae) Petrie, 83, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. She was born in St. Johnsbury, VT on April 22, 1926 daughter of the late George and Ernestine (Chesley) McRae. Kay was a founding member of the Essex Art League. She was also a member of the Northern Vermont Artist Association, Miniature Art Society of Vermont and the Chittenden County BPW. She was a long-time active member of the First Congregational Church of Essex Junction. She is survived by her children: Patricia Coon of Essex; Allen Petrie and Jody Branch of Morrisonville, NY; Kenneth Petrie and wife Berta of Grand Isle; Margaret Reed and husband Alan of Essex Jct.; Her sister Mildred Scotten of Lyndonville; Ten Grandchildren: Jeffrey Coon; Julie Coon; Adam Petrie; Damon Petrie; Andrea Dickey and husband Josh; Ashley Bourdeau and husband Dan; Kellie Petrie; Laura Wheelock and husband Nick; David Reed; Matthew Reed; Nine great grandchildren: Abigail Coon; Michael Coon; Nathan Coon; Sonya Coon; Jenna Limlaw; Acadia Petrie; Jacob Dickey; Alaina Dickey; Hayden Bourdeau; Daughter-in-law Laura Baker Sarault; Several nieces, nephews and good friends: Vera Many, Barb Towle, Betty Borah, Shirley Laforce. She was also predeceased by her husband of 53 years Charles A. Petrie in 2000 and her son Gerald R. Petrie in 1984. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday March 21, 2010 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the A.W. Rich Funeral Home - Essex Chapel. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to either, First Congregational Church of Essex Junction, 1 Church Street, Essex Jct., VT 05452 or Essex Rescue, 1 Educational Drive, Essex Jct., VT 05452.
