LAWRENCE WHITNEY BURGESS UNDERHILL CENTER Larry passed away May 3, 2013, at his home in Underhill Center. He was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Barre, the son of the late Oliver and Florence Whitney Burgess of Chelsea. Larry and his wife, Ruth Orr Burgess, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Dec. 27, 2012, just one week before Ruth's passing on Jan. 7, 2013. They had been residents of Underhill Center since 1947. Larry loved his land and had great pride in its beauty. He graduated from UVM in 1942, and in 1946 with a Master's in Physics. He leaves his children, Richard, Sharon Schriber, Judy Burgess Strobel, Nancy Rice, and Pam Blum; along with 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, Ruth, he was predeceased by his son, Steven in 1958. The family would like to thank the VNA for all the care and support during their home visits. The family welcomes friends to a gathering on May 11, 2013, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Underhill Town Hall.
