Linda Russell Obituary

Linda Russell passed away in her home with her husband John Russell by her side in East Montpelier on Sunday June 19th. Linda was born on November 5th, 1949 in Rapid City South Dakota to Lloyd and Iris Simmons. She was pre-deceased by her parents. Survivors include her 4 siblings, Mary Lou Roberts, Leroy Simmons, Robert Simmons, and Sharon Scheeler, husband John Russell, her three children Chris Russell, James Russell, and Michelle Delaney, and her grandchildren: Katherine Carter, Carsen Russell, Jacob Russell, Hunter Russell, Lilly Russell, Sam Russell, Flint Russell, and Mia Preston. Linda grew up primarily in Denver Colorado where she met and married her first husband, Steve Cotton. Steve and Linda had three children. Linda re-married John Russell of Stowe, VT. John and Linda spent most of their married life in Vermont. Linda was an active member in her church community at Faith Community Church in Barre and at Enough Ministries in Barre. She lived her life to serve the Lord and was a true follower of Jesus. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, camping, walking and swimming in God's green earth and spending time with her friends and family. While her children were growing up, Linda dedicated her time to raising her children and volunteering in her church community. After that she continued her volunteerism, supporting her children and grandchildren, and was an office manager for Dr. Nist and then Dr. Laurie Forest in Montpelier. Linda touched many lives during her time on earth. She spent many hours in the study of the Word and was very close in her walk with Jesus. Linda's ability to love and support everyone regardless of how they treated her was her most amazing attribute. She had the ability to live each day in the moment and leave her troubles at the foot of the cross. She was a constant joy to be around and always put others before herself. She lived day to day with the faith that God would take care of her needs. A celebration of life will be held at 11 am at Faith Community Church in Barre on Saturday June 25th.
