Lionel Thomas Boudreau, Jr. (LOU) ESSEX JCT - It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news of the passing of Lionel T. Boudreau, Jr., 81. He passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014 surrounded by his beloved wife and family. He was born April 24, 1932, in Burlington, VT, the son of Lionel Boudreau Sr., and Dorothy Boudreau whom predeceased him. Lionel proudly served in the United States Air Force for 26 years. He enlisted at the early age of 16 years old after the passing of his father in order to help support his mother. Lou served overseas in Korea, Vietnam and Indochina. He was a Tech Sergeant, receiving many medals and retiring in 1972. Of the many medals, he received the Air Force Longevity Award, five oak leaf clusters, two republic of Vietnam Campaign Medals, three Vietnam Service Medals, and four Air Force good conduct medals. After retiring from the armed forces he was employed for 15 years with IBM in Essex Jct., VT where he made his home for the past 35 years with his beloved wife Jane (Shepard) Bowley Boudreau. Lou was a founding member of the VFW Post 6689 in Essex Jct., VT where he spent many, many years as a lifetime member. Lou loved fishing and boating on Lake Champlain with his wife Jane and family. He had an extreme love and fascination with aircraft and could tell you anything about the mechanics, operation and functions of any aircraft. Lou loved watching any educational program dealing with military aircraft. Lou is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Jane (Shepard) Bowley Boudreau. Lou was a very dedicated and devoted father and survived by his children; Reginald Bowley and wife Carolyn of Peru, NY, Ronald Bowley and wife Julia of Colchester, VT, Shane Bowley and wife Janice of South Burlington, VT, William Bowley of Milton, VT, Gina Drake and husband Timothy of Chandler, AZ, Lewyt Bowley and wife Jody of Williston, VT, Adam Bowley of Huntington, VT, Neil Bowley and his fiancee Leslie Kinney of Shelburne, VT, and Donna Austin of Utah. He is also survived by his sisters; Jeanette and husband James Bacik of Shelton, CT, Corine Boudreau of CT, Linda and husband Jan Charlton of NC and brother George and wife Diane Boudreau of NC. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to give a very special thanks to Dr. Nathan Ayer for all his care, Bayada Hospice and the Vermont Respite House. At Lou’s request there will be no services. A family burial will be in the Spring at Randolph Memorial Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Post 6689, 73 Pearl Street, Essex Junction, VT 05452, Attention John Boardman.
