Lisa Mary Santor Obituary

Lisa Mary Santor, 66, of South Hero Vermont, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by love, on the first day of Spring, Saturday March 20th, 2021. Lisa was born September 8th, 1954, in Burlington VT, to Jasper and Joyce Santor. She graduated from South Burlington High School in 1972. She started her professional life as an administrative assistant at Camp Johnson. In 1991 She began working with Jim Chiasson, who became a steadfast friend, at IGS, Ltd where she was an office manager and business manager. For ten years, Lisa lived in Connecticut, next door to her cousin Laverne Santor, and worked in the nursing department at The University of Connecticut as a student advisor. Through her interest in her family’s genealogy, Lisa found that she was at least a sixth generation “Native Islander.” One of her earliest jobs as a teen was cooking for a family on Fishbladder Island. Lisa was an exceptional cook and made the best apple pie in the world. She enjoyed cooking, not just the mixing and preparing of ingredients, but also the knowledge of the joy she was creating for those she cooked for. Every dish she made was prepared with love. She was an avid gardener and took well-deserved pride in the landscaping around her home. She was fantastically intelligent and impossible to beat at scrabble. She was the memory keeper of the family as well as a great storyteller. She knew how to do absolutely any and everything. Lisa was a rarity in her positive outlook on life. She truly was a ray of sunshine, never one to complain, and the type of person who demonstrated kindness, warmth, and a friendly smile to all. Lisa touched the hearts of so many. She was never too busy to help someone in need and her loved ones always came before herself. She was an amazing Mother and friend and will be missed dearly. To know her was to love her has never been a truer statement. She leaves behind her two daughters. Jennifer Brownell and her husband David Laven, and grandchildren Max and Grace Laven, and Kelly Brownell and her Fiance Morgan Dixon and grandchildren Grady Brownell and Thatcher Brownell-Dixon. The oldest daughter of six siblings, Lisa also leaves behind her brother Michael Santor and his wife Mary, sister Paula Nash and her husband Mark, brother Mark Santor, sister Ruth Nash and her husband Steve, and sister CJ Santor and her partner Pat Loiselle, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins. Lisa also leaves behind her one time husband and lifelong friend, Lyman Brownell. Lisa was predeceased by her father and mother, Jasper and Joyce Santor, and Grandparents Elmer and Gertrude Santor. The family would like to thank the members of the UVMMC Home Health and Hospice for their help. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday March 27th at 1:00 at the Masonic Lodge, 40 South Street, South Hero. Inurnment will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
