Madeline Windisch

Madeline E. (Chapman) Windisch Essex Madeline E. (Chapman) Windisch, 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday November 25, 2010 at the Vermont Respite House. Madeline was born October 29, 1928, in Queens New York City, the daughter of the late William and Charlotte Chapman. In her high school years, she met her future husband, Charles Windisch. They were married in November of 1950 and spent 26 years together before his passing in July 1978. A proud, loving mother of three of her own children, for many years she was a member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Flushing. In 1996, she moved to Essex VT to be closer to her immediate family and became a regular attendee of Sunday services at the Essex Alliance Church. Madeline loved to watch ice skating and in particular tennis, always anxiously awaiting the major professional tournaments. In her later years, she enjoyed the weekly luncheons with the Essex Seniors, as well as the occasional outing to see a play or bus trip to a place of interest. She leaves behind two daughters, Carol Janzow and Joyce Angel, a son, Charles Windisch Jr. and a sister, Charlotte Albright. In addition, she will be missed by her nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. There will be visiting hours from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Essex Chapel. A funeral service will be held at the Essex Alliance Church at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 29 with Pastor Joe Moore officiating with a reception immediately following. A burial with a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30 in Flushing Cemetery, Queens New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Lane, Williston, VT 05495. Arrangements are by John D. Workman, A. W.
