Raymond Rahne

Raymond G. Rahne, 96 passed away peacefully on May 12th, 2014. He was born in Kearney, New Jersey on February 7, 1918. Raymond grew up in Richmond Hills in Queens, NY and graduated from John Adams H.S. In 1942, he joined the Army and served in the 4th Armored Division during WWII, earning a bronze star. Raymond married Lillian Kren in 1947 and worked for the New York City Transit Authority for many years. They raised their family in Massapequa Park and enjoyed camping and hiking every summer around New England. They eventually moved to Groton, VT and enjoyed their retirement years in a peaceful and quiet setting, spending summers flea marketing and meeting friends along the way. Raymond was predeceased by his wife Lillian of 67 years on April 17, 2014. He is survived by his son Pastor Kenneth Rahne and his wife Laura, their children Gene and Cory, 6 great grandchildren, daughter Susan Wright and her husband Craig, granddaughter Michleen, her partner Nate Yandow and their children Cole and Bennett and grandson Kyle Wright of Ketchum, ID. We once again want to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the kind, compassionate and caring staff at the Homestead in St. Albans where Raymond lived for the past few months. A private family service will be held later this spring. Memorial contributions in Raymond's memory may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans or to the Franklin County Home Health and Hospice, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478.
