Richard Rochester

Richard L. “Dick” Rochester Essex Center Richard Lyle “Dick” Rochester, 76, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 6, 1933 in Rouses Point, NY son of the late Hiram and Agnes (Goddeau) Rochester. He served his country well as a proud member of the U.S. Navy. He married the former Dorothy Peters on April 29, 1963 in Columbia, SC. He had been employed as an Engineer with IBM, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Masons and member of Cairo Temple of The Shriners in Rutland. Dick will be missed greatly by all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by: His wife of 46 years Dorothy Rochester of Essex Center; His son Scott Rochester and wife Barbara of Milton; His daughter Traci Minori of Essex Center; His beloved granddaughter Taylor Minori of Essex Center; His brother-in-law Donald Peters and wife Barbara of Langley, BC Canada; Two cousins: Cliff LaBombard of FL; Priscilla McGuire and husband Ken of Calgary, Alberta Canada; He was also predeceased by his brother Robert Rochester. There will be no visiting hours held. A memorial service will be held Friday March 5, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. James Episcopal Church, 4 St. James Place, Essex Junction with the Reverend Kenneth Hitch and the Reverend Reed Brown co-officiating. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Dick’s memory can be made to either the American Lung Association of VT, 372 Hurricane Lane, Suite 101, Williston, VT 05495 or to Essex Rescue, 1 Educational Drive, Essex Jct., VT 05452. The family is being assisted by Direct Cremation Services of the A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Essex Chapel 57 Main St, Essex Junction, VT 05452.
