Robert Barron Fairfax, Vermont Obituary

Robert Barron

Robert F. Barron Sr. Colchester Robert Francis Barron Sr., 85 passed away on May 15, 2010 at the Green Mountain Nursing Home, where he was loved and cared for by a wonderful staff. He was born on May 11, 1925 in Burlington, VT son of the late Ovila “Hermie” and Henrietta “Hattie” M. (Ward) Barron. He spent hours with friends and family sharing his love of country music, playing the guitar, fiddle, banjo, harmonica, mouth harp, spoons and singing old country music. Many Friday and Saturday nights were spent sharing food, laughter and music in the kitchen of the old house on Bean Road. Being surrounded by friends and family was the highlight of our father’s life and what helped shape the family that he leaves behind. He was a great painter who passed down his trade to his sons. From the dome of the state house in Montpelier to private homes of many Vermonters he renewed the places where many people lived and worked throughout the state. He made what was old and dull bright and vibrant once again, not only in Vermont but in Texas where he spent twenty years working and raising his two daughters and son Tammy, Tina and John whom he missed dearly and spoke of often. People still remember that Damn Yankee that became a Texan at Heart. He also loved gardening raising many wonderful crops. Year after year his corn, tomatoes, string beans, cucumbers, potatoes, lettuce, beets, zucchini and summer squash were the best around, teaching his children and his grandchildren the difference between weeds and vegetable plants. Even after a hard day at work he could be found hoeing, raking and hilling the young plants into large yielding adult plants. Reaping the fruits of his labor and sharing them with friends and family made him happy. He was also a diehard Atlanta Braves Fan never missing a game. Robert is survived by his son Robert F. Barron Jr. and his wife Beverly of Colchester VT. His two daughters in Texas Tammy Wright and Tina Sample and their children and grandchildren. Kenneth and Wanda Davis of Burlington, VT. Sue and Don Bean of Middlesex, VT. Deborah and Paul Perrotte of South Hero, VT. Linda and Alan Merchant of South Burlington. Marybeth and Raymond Bezio of Colchester, VT and many grandchildren and great grandchildren that were truly loved and cherished. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of forty years Marie E. (Hamlin) Barron of Colchester, VT on the 19th of August 2007. His brothers Harold, Richard, Roland, Walter, George and John. His sisters Irene and Helen. Many Brothers-in-law and sisters in –law. His oldest son John Derek Barron of Texas. Jeannette Ballard who was the mother of his children, John, Tammy and Tina.
